The Bedroom ... more about us ...

Damian and Eva met in Romania in 2000 while Damian was doing volunteer work at the charity where Eva was then a volunteer. They were married in 2002 in Romania and moved to Cambridge, UK.

Damian is a Research Scientist working on cancer genomics at the Hutchison/MRC Research Centre at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. While Eva, his wife is a Romanian-qualified medical doctor in the process of getting professional recognition in the UK. Both attend St Barnabas Church in Cambridge.

Both husband and wife have a heart for youth in Romania. Damian's interest began when he was sent to Eastern Europe (Tallinn, Estonia) to conduct an English language summer camp in 1997. Since then, he has travelled to Poland, Lithuania and Romania doing volunteer work with youth. Some of the then kids and teenagers are now university students or working adults but still keep in touch with them!

Eva received a call from God to work with orphans and abandoned kids in Romania while in high school after learning about the huge number of them in her country. She studied medicine in order to help these children as a medical doctor. In her house officer period in 2000, while working at the Genetics department in the Children's Clinical Hospital in Oradea, she met an orphan child, who was born with Fraser Syndrome, a rare genetic condition caracterized by visual, hearing and speech impairment, as well as unilateral kidney agenesis and web digits (both hands and toes). After accompaning her for three operations in Hungary, she got to love her and after finishing her house officer year, she took Florina in her foster care. Eva's whole family in Romania now love her so much - they are committed to Florina's care.

Because of Florina's amazing development, Eva's eldest sister decided to donate her plot of land in their village, in order to build a children's home. Florina is now in Eva's parent's care and came to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London from 1 Apr - 7 Jun 2004 for an operation and some consultations. Please follow this link to read about her amazing development and pray for her!
